ARDI Leadership Summit on Creative Economies - August 11th in Boone

The Appalachian Regional Development Institute at Appalachian State University announces its 8th Annual ARDI Leadership Summit, Accelerating Our Economy: Tapping Creative Assets. The conference will be held on the ASU campus at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11th. Trail Work Day

Ever wondered what it takes to build a hiking trail? Well here is a great way to learn and get your hands dirty helping to build a hiking trial that will be here forever. Elk Knob is currently building a hiking trail to the summit and needs your help. No experience is needed. Rangers will be there to work with you and to answer any questions. Activities could include any of the following...clearing brush and topsoil in trail path, creating tread, building rock wall, graveling tread, and more.

New River Trail 50k run

10/11/08, 8am Fries, VA This 50k (31.1 miles) ultramarathon is completely on the New River Trail. 100% dirt, flat, FAST.This is a "green" event with all proceeds going to The National Committee for the New River.Registration information below.
